Housing and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Services
About the Community Development Block Grant Program
The City of Hanford is an entitlement community with respect to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. This federal grant program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program allocates funds to eligible cities and counties throughout the nation to assist low and moderate-income households and neighborhoods in the elimination or prevention of slums and blight.
The national objectives of the program are to provide decent housing, create a suitable living environment and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income people. The grant funds may be used for activities such as housing rehabilitation, affordable homeownership assistance, neighborhood improvement, community services, as well as community development activities such as the construction or rehabilitation of community facilities and economic development.
The City’s program is administered by the Hanford Community Development Department.
The City of Hanford is working to identify community development priorities, fair and affordable housing needs, and factors that shape equal access to housing for incorporation into the City’s 5-Year Consolidated Plan, Annual Action Plan, & Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. But we need the community's input!
The City's Housing and Development Survey only takes about 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. If you have questions, please contact Chrysalis Research & Consulting at Jason@thechrysalisconsultants.com. The survey will be open until January 30, 2024.
