A business requiring city council action is listed on the council's regular meeting agenda. Because of the large number and variety of matters receiving consideration, the agenda is prepared in advance of the council meeting. Official council actions and formal votes are conducted at regular council meetings.

Council Study Sessions

The Hanford City Council holds regular study sessions to learn more about issues facing the city.  At Study Session, Council typically conducts more informal and in-depth discussion of specific issues.

Study sessions are considered Special meetings for the purpose of the Brown Act and therefore Public Comment during those sessions is limited to items on the agenda and the Mayor may choose to accept comments during each agenda item.  Council may provide formal direction at the conclusion of Study Session agenda items.
