The Hanford Parks and Recreation Department provides a wide array of programs to fill your leisure hours. The Department is responsible for coordinating activities for the entire family including special classes, youth programs, older adult activities, sports for youth and adults as well as community events. The Department also maintains the aesthetic and recreational value of all City parks totaling 163 acres, maintains the landscape in the City’s median islands and various rights-of-way areas encompassing 37 acres. The Department plans and performs enhancements within the Downtown District, Airport, Industrial Park and the Youth Athletic Complex. The Department also maintains the Urban Forest to include planting, pruning and removal of trees. The Department is responsible for administering contracts and inspecting the maintenance of 29 landscape assessment districts, as well as performing high and low frequency safety inspections and repairing or replacing the City playgrounds as needed.
